Holidays, hot mics and Just BeCAUSE

Special Edition: 🎉

Happy

You do you this week …

Who doesn’t love the anticipation of unwrapping a gift?

But let’s be realnothing beats the energy of being in the same space (e.g., room, beach, stadium) with people we appreciate. In a world full of algorithms, performative PR (there are much better ways) and curated feeds (grrrrrr — Instagram and TikTok), there are few substitutes for real-life kinds of community.

So, with a lot going on in our world, I hope you’re able to simply enjoy the holiday week and have quality time with non-AI things you loveor at least like 🤪. Whether it’s a traditional Christmas gathering, grabbing Chinese takeout, watching a smorgasbord of sports or just a day that ends in Y, here’s to you. And peace✌🏼everywhere.

Yes, even between 🐻Bears and 🧀Packers fans. (Talkin to you, Gini 😅.)

🎤 Reminder to NHL announcers (or anyone who speaks): The mic is ALWAYS hot.

⛑️ And one more from the NHL — To be fair, I would have said what Buffalo Sabres’ reporter Rob Ray said if I were hit in the face by a puck. Maybe … probably more.

Just BeCAUSE 🫂

A nod to former client/current friend and former governor of the state of Wisconsin, Marty Schreiber, who continues to help Alzheimer’s caregivers by sharing his own story about caring for his wife, who lived with the disease for nearly 20 years. I tell Marty he’s a forever civil servant as he connects with families and communities throughout the world with care and compassion.

There’s no quit in Marty Schreiber. None.

You may donate in Marty’s honor or for someone you love at alz.org — or buy his book, My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver, which he co-wrote with Milwaukee-based writer/journalist Cathy Breitenbucher (she inspires in her own right). A portion of the book’s proceeds is donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
