It's prime time for sports publicity

Pitch sports savvy, fun features now

Publicity Public Service Announcement -- To anyone with an evergreen, featury sports-related story – a book, retail item or camp – pitch it NOW.

Why now?

Your fans-to-be and media may hug you for not making them post another 2027 mock football draft, place odds on the 2030 football season or weigh in on the latest sports gossip. (I kid … sort of.)

By mid-August, if not sooner, attention turns to NFL training camps, collegiate fall sports, and media will be back in hustle mode unless your name is Brady, Biles or LeBron. (If you’re one of those, Lines 1, 2 — shoot, all of them are open.) 

Related. An email popped into my marketing box entitled, “What to pitch the media in June …” My answer was, “stuff that’s newsworthy in July, August and September.”

You have to hurry for a July campaign, but if your information is ready for prime time — newsworthy, edited, formatted and ready for mass media eyes, go for it, especially if it’s Olympics-related. (Contact me for help with this.)
